Curtis High School is a public school and the only high school in the University Place School District. It servesMore approximately 1,400 students in grades 10 through 12. The school follows standard state curriculum and offers well-develpoed arts programs. A wide variety of extracurricular clubs and activities are available for students, and the athletics department fields men's and women's varsity programs in all major sports. Curtis High School was founded in 1957 and is home of the Vikings.

Curtis Junior High School is one of the crown jewels of the University Place School District. It dates back nearlyMore five decades, when the district bought a piece of land that became a junior and senior high school campus, and the namesake for both schools is longtime local school advocate George R. Curtis.

In 2006, UP voters approved an $86 million school construction bond that included $55 million for a new junior high school, which would continue to house the community's eighth- and ninth-graders. The location of the junior high school, which was on the property's south end along 40th Street West, is now closer to the west along Grandview Drive West.
