Well said Dan. The USGA organizes tournaments on an almost weekly basis at courses across theRead More country, they know EXACTLY what they're doing.

What did John Landenburg have to say about the million dollars a year, every year since it opended,Read More that the golf course has lost? Chambers Bay has provided the USGA the American Dream, a place to make lots of money using something for which they didn't have to pay a cent! Fore!! Howard
Dan June 30, 2013 at 10:34 am
Give it time, Howard. It hasn't had its worldwide premier yet.

It costs money to do what is proposed by the Parks Comm. as well as tearing the house down. TheRead More city received funds from insurance for the fire damage, so that cost is covered. The city has also taken care of most of the mold problems and appears to have replaced the tile in the bathroom with an enclosed tub, so that cost has already been paid out. Mold is a problem with any home in the northwest that is not maintained. This home has been used for meetings, gatherings and residential since the city acquired it. It can have year round use, not like a "picnic shelter". Historic significance will also be lost. Whatever the city owns, city center, civic building, city hall, Senior Center, public works facility, parks, or lights and benches need maintaining...even a "picnic shelter"! Maybe it should be sold to a group that can take care of it!

Chuck, the solution to Kobayashi House would be simple if it weren't for politics. YourRead More "generous benefactor" solution to the problem is viable, and I can think of several UP residents who possess the financial resources to save the house from the wrecking ball. However, these "generous benefactors" are successful professional people who have made their money by making sound financial decisions throughout their lives. It is very doubtful they would give their hard earned money to a city government who has a very poor record with respect to property management. Curran House, Kobayashi House, and Briarwood (sp?) Apartments are properties acquired by the city and then mismanaged. Kobayashi House and it's associated property could be a wonderful asset to our fine city if it weren't for politics and politicians. Howard

The Kobayashi House is located where public access is limited and being surrounded by trees andRead More water is more susceptible to mold and other problems than most homes. Keeping it up will take precious resources that the city has little of. I would suggest the home and property be sold to someone who can truly take care of it and use the proceeds to continuing the restoration and development of the Curran property - or to acquire the Leland house and property on 23rd and Sunset. That end of UP needs a park and the home is one of the earliest built in up (1910) and is still in good shape. The time to buy this nearly 5 acre site is now while housing and property prices are relatively low. Arne Handeland

Yeah, considering it was 15 minutes before the posted time at check-in. Cutting a young family off,Read More towing 2 babies through the park, 15 minutes BEFORE the cut-off time is just wrong. Sometimes being human is better than a any deadline. I am sad that Debbie couldn't even take a second to address Alessandra directly. I feel that's kind of rude.

One note: This offer is for new registrations only as we are needing to boost our turnout. TheRead More economy has made it difficult for folks to afford a nice evening out. We hope to help out with this process. Also, we ask those who attend to consider bringing a non-perishable food item so that we can also assist the ever growing need at our local Food Bank. SugarBabies, listed above as a merchant participant, has opted not to participate this year, but there are still some incredible wines to be tasted and merchants to visit. We have excellent white, red and even unique wines for your tasting pleasure. Heritage Bank is leading up the registration table (which opens at 3 pm) and is providing a great deal of assistance to ensure you have a great time. Come....Spend some time in Sumner!
