Curtis Senior High School

Designed by renowned local architect Robert B. Price, Curtis Senior High School opened in 1969. Its namesake is George R. Curtis, a longtime University Place resident who dedicated much of his life to bettering educational opportunities for the community's youth. The University Place School District purchased a 23.5-acre property that eventually became the site for a campus for a junior and senior high school.

Over the years, the school has gained a reputation for being academically and athletically strong, and it features an award-winning school band. Its alumni are spread throughout University Place and beyond.

Today, the school continues to be a source of pride for University Place, even as the school district opened a new junior high next door. The high school opened a new gymnasium in 2010.

The principal is David Hammond. Its mascot is the Vikings.
