You Can Support Parks and Rec This Friday at Narrows Plaza Bowl

The second annual Bowling for Parks and Rec fundraiser takes place from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. You can bowl or have someone from the Peace Out group bowl for you.

If you like bowling, parks, recreation, or any combination of the three, you might want to head to on Friday.

That's when the volunteers are conducting the second-annual Bowling for Parks and Rec event, which will benefit the .

The event - which runs from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. - is a chance for supporters not only to bowl, but to help sustain UP's recreational programs. According to volunteer Chris Saunders, the group hopes the community will come to the rescue again this year:

We are still in need of businesses or people to sponsor a lane for the youth from Peace Out to come bowl at on March 16th from 6:00 to 8:30.

Peace Out empowers teens to recognize and respond to community needs by raising money and awareness for local non-profits. The program sessions are held at local retirement homes, creating active engagement between generations. The program also draws in local partners such as businesses, schools, non-profits and volunteers which promotes a culture of compassion and philanthropy in the community. Among other activities in the community, Peace Out members man our visitor center in the atrium in the civil building.
