University Place Woman To Travel To Haiti To Help Nation's Residents

Tabitha Byrne, a regular Patch user, will be part of a team of 18 members with the Ignite Campus Ministry and Puget Sound Christian Center on its mission to the Caribbean nation.

A University Place woman will travel to Haiti later this month with her church to help the people of the country crippled by a 2010 earthquake, but she hopes the community can help support her cause.

Tabitha Byrne, a regular Patch user, will be part of a team of 18 members with the Ignite Campus Ministry and Puget Sound Christian Center on its mission to the Caribbean nation.

"Since the earthquake that happened in Haiti back in 2010, many have come to help walk the country through the initial devastation, but the process of rebuilding is ongoing and will be for years to come," she wrote Patch. "Thankfully, there are still teams that are gathering together to go and restore hope to these people; reminding them that they are not alone, helping them to restore what was lost, and keep hope alive."

But in order to travel to Haiti, Byrne says she needs to raise $1,800 to cover the cost of her flight, insurance, lodging, vaccinations and extra supplies that her team will bring to Haiti.
