University Place Mourns Loss of Father, Volunteer John Wright

For the last several years he had volunteered as a coach in the University Place Parks & Recreation Department's Youth Indoor Soccer league, coaching his daughter and many other youth in our community.

The City of University Place Council and staff extend sincere condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of . An avid outdoorsman, John’s life was cut short when he fell during a hike in the Cascade foothills near North Bend last week. His body was located on Monday.

John, a loving father and husband, was a man that has given back to our U.P. community. For the last several years he had volunteered as a coach in the University Place Parks & Recreation Department’s Youth Indoor Soccer league, coaching his daughter and many other youth in our community.

“He will be remembered as a kind, gentle, soft-spoken man that always had a smile on his face and was always willing to help,” noted Brason Alexander, Recreation Supervisor with the City. “Our community lost a wonderful person. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.”
