Pups In The Park Is Saturday

In addition to the regular features of the annual event, this year's celebration of Man & Woman's Best Friend will feature a championship doggy disc-catching competition. It will also offer a doggy array of activities and pet vendors.

Peanut-butter licking and a dog-owner lookalike contest are among the activities awaiting pooches and their owners at the 5th Annual Pups in the Park event Saturday.

The annual get-together for pooches and their owners runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Cirque Park, 7250 Cirque Drive in University Place.

The SUNDogs group, a local nonprofit, is sponsoring the free event. This year, Pups In The Park will showcase the .

Watch amazing dogs from eight states compete in various events using Frisbees.  Everyone is welcome to participate in SUNDog contests or the Skyhoundz Championship for a minimal fee.

Other dog events include Canine Good Citizen Testing, Service Dog Demonstrations by the Prison Pet Partnership, Musical Sit, a Pet Parade, Hot Dog Eating, a Brush Off contest and “Are You Listening to What your Dog is Saying” discussion.

SUNDOgs, is dedicated to promoting responsible pet ownership by creating off leash dog parks in University Place. All proceeds from the event go toward the interim and future off leashpark at the Chambers Creek Properties in University Place.  Other SUNDog events include Santa Paws Pet Photos in December along with maintaining the current off leash dog park on the Chambers Creek Properties.
