Playground by the Sound: Day 1 Wrap

Volunteers enjoyed sunny weather as dirt flew and posts rose.

It doesn't look like a playground yet, but the volunteers at the could imagine one.

of the for the future playground near the North Meadow of Chambers Creek Properties saw volunteers plant the roots of what will grow into a community treasure for University Place.

And the volunteers ranged from elected officials - state Rep. Tami Green and UP School Board member Mary Lu Dickinson, to name a few - to non-elected types who have just as much heart for the project.

It was easy to see who are the professional builders. Donning orange captain shirts, they led team who installed posts, sawed planks and performed other duties to get the project started.

It wasn't just the folks with hammers, nails and drills, either. Volunteers served food, checked in volunteers and directed eager workers where to go.

Heck, even I was able to drill some nails.
