Help University Place Presbyterian Serve The Community

You can volunteer for a list of community service projects that the church has scheduled Nov. 5.

is offering a way for people to help their communities Nov. 5.

The church is conducting a Community Serve Day, which allows volunteers to sign up for a list of community service projects, including assisting the Families Unlimited Network.

FAMILIES UNLIMITED NETWORK; The SPOT office, located in the UPPC cafe ; 9:30 a.m. to noon

Help design and build a portable, locking dodge ball storage box. Please bring: power tools and hand tools. What to wear: work clothes, work gloves and safety goggles. Only 5 volunteers needed! Volunteer here.

Help wash the windows at the FUN house! Please bring: rags and squeegees. What to wear: work clothes; weather appropriate gear. Only 5 volunteers needed! Volunteer here.

 

FAMILY RENEWAL SHELTER; 6832 Pacific Avenue, Tacoma 98404; 9 a.m. to nonn

Volunteer to help with Fall cleanup and preparation for Winter. Volunteer here.

 

YOUTH FOR CHRIST; CHANGE: Tillicum Youth Center; 14511 W Thorne Ln SW, Lakewood, WA 98498; 9:30 a.m. to noon

Help clean up the YFC Tillicum Youth Center. Please bring: weeding supplies, shovels, weedeaters, gloves, vacuums, plastic bags, sanitation supplies and WEAR OLD CLOTHES! Volunteer here.

 

RESCUE MISSION | Adams Street Family Campus | 2909 South Adams Street, Tacoma, 98409 | 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Serve lunch to families at the Resuce Mission. Only 4 adults needed (kids 7 and older can come with adults). 1 SPOT LEFT!


TACOMA COLLEGE MINISTRY; In the UPPC kitchen; 9 a.m. to noon

Bake cookies for UPS/Tacoma College Ministry students at UPPC. Volunteer here.

 

TRINITY HEALTH CLINIC; Trinity Presbyterian Church; 1615 6th Avenue, Tacoma, 98405 | 9 a.m. to noon

Help cleanup the clinic grounds. Projects include: gardening, pulling dead plants and planting new ones, trimming bushes and general cleanup. Volunteer here.

 

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY; 8606 South Ainsworth, Tacoma, 98444; 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Work on a Habitat house on South Ainsworth. Volunteers must be 16 or older. Volunteer training is required and is TBA. You will be notified of the details. Please bring: water, sack lunch. What to wear: sturdy shoes with thick soles, long pants, no tank tops and weather appropriate gear. Volunteer here.

 

KENYA MISSION TEAM; At UPPC; 9 a.m. to noon

Help make cards (words of hope) for our brothers and sisters in Meru, Kenya. Please bring items that might be used to make greeting cards, to include stickers, ribbons, paper doilies, decorative papers, stamps and ink, etc. Also, bring photos of the Pacific Northwest or Tacoma; anything you can think of that we might use to create pretty greeting cards. Bring your favorite pens and markers, watercolors or other media as well. Volunteer here.

 

YOUNG LIFE; At a team member's home (TBD); 9 a.m. to noon

Help prepare meals for adult and student leadings for an upcoming Young Life meeting. Location still to be determined. Volunteer here.
