For the past 20 years, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital has organized a three-day charity bicycle ride to raise money for the Children Sexual Assault Center. Over the three days, riders pedal over three mountain passes: Snoqualmie, Blewett and, finally, Stevens pass. All of the local Rotary clubs provide food and fun at the rest stops along the way.

Sue Ring, Co-Chairperson of Tacoma Narrows Rotary’s lunch stop described it this way: "Our club is honored to host the final lunch stop. Our goal is to make the riders final lunch stop a memorable one. We serve hot baked potatoes, different chili toppings and an array of condiments that are too numerous to name."

"Then," she added, "there is our “Beverage Baron”, Colin Ehli from Brink and Sadler. He creates unique and delicious beverages for their palettes. All the riders love the change from the normal Gatorade.”

Voting is next. Each rider votes for the coveted ‘Best Lunch Stop’ award for one Rotary club. Tacoma Narrows Rotary has earned this title and the all-important bragging rights for the past seven years, ever since Gay Landry, member and owner of , suggested serving potatoes.

This year’s President, Scott Seitz, believes they will win again.

“It is possible one of the other clubs can beat us," he said. "We know that and we keep raising the bar a little every year. The riders give their all in fund-raising and riding, and so does my club with the nutritional support.”

Tacoma Narrows Rotary would like to thank all their friends and family who volunteered, and the 751 riders who raised the funds. They do it for the kids, so to speak. THANK YOU.

Then there is Stevens Pass, Inc: They generously provide their patio, bathrooms, seating, music, ice and anything else we ask for. Thank you.
