In Alabama, they apparently have to explain football to "girls"

People in Alabama get away with saying really dumb stuff because the rest of the country just says: “Oh well, they're from Alabama.”  Which of course is not fair to that portion of the Alabama population that doesn't have several screws loose.  But sometimes the dumb stuff coming from there manages to incite serious discussion and occasionally produces an much-needed apology. Like the article on the website of the Alabama Press Register that heralded the return of football with a guide on how to explain football to quote “girls”.  Here's the offensive opening thesis statement, quote (and: this is a quote from the Alabama Press register, so refrain from addressing a complaint to me starting off “Dear jerk face”) Quote: ”Football can be a confusing and often vexing concept, especially for women. But there’s one thing women understand about football and that is the actual game is a good excuse for a party.” Unquote.  nice to know, with the changes in the world, folks at the Alabama Press Register continue to exist in the 1950's.  Now, I personally know women who do like football and manage to understand what's going on despite it being a, quote “confusing and vexing concept”.  I also know women who don’t like football because, they don't like football. They're allowed to not like football; this is America, land of the free-to-do-your-own-thing. Even we hope in Alabama.
