Register for Summer Camp at Menchie's This Saturday

Steve & Kate's Camp is having a special getting-to-know you party this Saturday at Menchie's in UP.

The registration event is scheduled for 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Parents and kids will be able to meet the camp counselors, as well as get camp T-shirts and discounts on frozen yogurt.

Steve & Kate's Camp is a summer day-camp for student entering kindergarten through 7th grade, and has been a Bay-Area staple for 33 years. This marks the group's second year in University Place at Charles Wright Academy.

"We always look for schools which are reputable in their communities, as we are interested in long-term relationships with our hosts as well as the communities we serve--Steve & Kate's builds its enrollment almost exclusively through word-of-mouth," said Elizabeth Swan from Steve & Kate's Camp. "We donate to school auctions, sponsor community events, and look for face-to-cafe opportunities to share our program details with families."

On this year's camp schedule are daily, weekly and show specials--ranging from zip lines, climbing walls, and water slides, to go-karts and a visit from Washington State service dog puppies. 

"At the heart of our program are two key principles: camper choice and family flexibility. We offer the tools and gentle guidance for campers to pursue projects of their own choosing in six tech and design studios," said Swan. "This year, [choices include] stop animation, build, culinary, dance, music and style (sewing and knitting). All activities are open to campers of all ages, and our counselors are there to provide guidance as campers have questions--not instruction. They also keep our spaces safe for learning and play to occur."

Registration options include full-summer camp or drop-in rates, with a special cancellation clause that automatically refunds any days families bought but didn't use. 

Several pricing tiers are available depending on how many days of camp a family thinks they will use, with flexible self-established payment plans and need-based scholarships.
