Why here: Right in our own backyard, this is the mother of all courses. Home to the 2010 U.S. Amateur and the 2015 , taking lessons here would make anyone feel like a golf rock star. Chambers Bay has multiple golf instruction packages to choose from. Half-day golf schools, individual instruction, group lessons, and a nine-hole playing package are some of the exciting options you can choose from. Please consult the website and contact the course for fees and scheduling.
Tacoma Firs Golf Center, Tacoma
Why here: Just minutes from University Place, this golf center has it all when it comes to practicing and learning. A covered driving range, 18-hole mini golf, putting areas and sand bunkers make practicing easy. Golf lessons are given either individually or as a group. There's even a special ladies night that includes, dinner, lessons, and more. See website for more details.
Meadow Park Golf Course, Lakewood
Why here: Again, another nearby course that offers great lessons and great play. There are many options for golf lessons. Besides private instruction and group lessons, there are classes just for women, seniors, juniors, for your short game, or designed for different skill levels. Lake Spanaway Golf Course, Tacoma
Why here: Maintained by Pierce County Parks and Recreation and managed by Premier Golf Centers LLC, this course offers great play and lessons to boot. With convenient online registration, private, group, and playing lessons are offered (you can even get gift certificates for lessons, too!). And after you learn your new skills, you can try them at the Fort Steilacoom nine-hole Golf Course in nearby Steilacoom, managed by the same folks.
North Shore Golf Course, Tacoma
Why here: This historic and highly rated golf course in pretty Northeast Tacoma offers some lessons that can be crafted for the individual or in a group for people of all ages. They also offer junior golf camps for the younger set. Click on the links to learn more about it.
