Stewart Helps Curtis Find Winning Ways

The victory over Tacoma in University Place tonight gave their rivals a short-lived stint at second place in the Division I Southwest Conference.

Carson Stewart scored five goals to lead Curtis to its ninth with of the season with a 15 – 13 boys high school lacrosse defeat of rival Tacoma on Monday at home.

The win lifted Curtis past Tacoma into second place in the Division I Southwest Conference. The Vikings also rebounded from

Curtis jumped out to a 5 – 3 lead in the first and added four more goals in the second to take a 9 – 4 lead into the intermission. In the third, Curtis and Tacoma matched each other with four goals apiece as at the Vikings took a 13 – 8 lead into the final quarter. In the fourth, Tacoma made a run, outscoring the Vikings 5 – 2 but in the end fell short.

For Curtis, Colby Carr added three goals and Mitchell Homeyer led the defense with 11 ground balls. Tacoma’s Connor McCleod and Jacob Bolek each had three goals and Adrew Rega had 10 saves in goal. 

Curtis (9-5-0) next faces King’s Way (7-5-0), Saturday in a 6 p.m. start at home.  Tacoma (9-2-0) next faces King’s Way (7-5-0), Friday in an 8 p.m. start at Mt. Tahoma Stadium.
