NBA Fines Isaiah Thomas, Former Huskies For Non-Sanctioned UW Alumni Game

Some are questioning whether it's another sign that the NBA has it out for the Northwest. What do you think?

If the NBA was trying to clear suspicions that the league has it out for Seattle, consider this an epic fail.

Multiple reports surfaced Wednesday that the NBA had fined several former University of Washington products - including former Curtis High standout and Sacramento Kings guard Isaiah Thomas - $15,000 for participating in an unsanctioned UW basketball game June 23 in Seattle.

Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wajnarowski reports the game - organized by UW Coach Lorenzo Romar - violated the NBA's collective bargaining agreement, which mandates that players can't play in public offseason games prior to July 1 or after Sept. 15 without league approval.

Despite the violation, it has some fans in the Northwest once again crying foul on the NBA. After all, it has been five years since the Seattle Supersonics departed for Oklahoma City.

And it has been two months since the NBA blocked a proposed to sale of the Sacramento Kings to a group that would have moved the team to Seattle.

Many of those doubters put the blame on outgoing NBA Commissioner David Stern, who has passive-aggressively and not so passive-aggressively shown a distaste for the Northwest.

So we ask you this, Patch users: Is the NBA's penalty of the UW players who played in an unsanctioned game more proof that, quite simply, the league has it out for the Northwest? Tell us in the comments below.
