Lady Viks Drop Third Straight In Lacrosse

A trio of Curtis players netted two goals apiece, but it wasn't enough as Lake Sammamish erased a deficit en route to a win.

Lake Sammamish exploded for eight goals to down the Curtis girls lacrosse team for its third straight loss. Here's the recap, according to Washington State Lacrosse:

Lake Sammamish exploded with eight unanswered goals in the second half to hand Curtis a 16 – 11, come-from-behind girls win Monday in University Place. 

The win was the fifth of the season and the fourth straight for Lake Sammamish.

In the first, Lake Sammamish gave back an early lead as Curtis scored three unanswered goals to take an 8 – 7 advantage into the half.  In the second, the Lady Vikings began to pull away, taking an 11 – 8 advantage before Lake Sammamish exploded for the game’s final eight goals.

In the win, Marlena Masterleo scored a season’s best five goals and a total of six Lake Sammamish players found the net in the game’s final 18 minutes.  Liliana Lamanna and Michelle Bodman combined for 14 saves in the nets.

For Curtis, Sloane Barton, Kortney Hudak and Tori Gollinger each netted a pair of scores and Carina Coppedge-Pope kept busy in the nets with 18 saves.

The loss is the third straight for the Vikings.

Lake Sammamish (5-2-0) next faces Overlake (5-1-0), Wednesday in a 4:15 p.m. start at the Overlake School in Redmond.  Curtis (4-5-0) next faces Lake Tapps (4-2-0), Friday in a 6:30 p.m. start at Game Farm Park.
