Johnson-Wilson Scores 21, But Curtis Falls In Final Game Of Tourney

Newark Memorial of California outscored the Vikings 24-12 in the fourth quarter to get the victory. DaVonte Lacy added 18 points.

TORREY PINES, CA - Curtis got 21 points from Darius Johnson-Wilson, but it wasn't enough as the Vikings lost their final game of the 21st Annual Holiday Classic presented by ESPN iScore today.

The 69-59 lost to Newark Memorial of California marked a tough finish for the Vikings, who competed in the highly regarded boys basketball tournament for the first time and finished with a 1-3 showing.

Johnson-Wilson went 8-for-13 from the field, collecting seven rebounds and three blocked shots. DaVonte Lacy scored 18 points and pulled down four rebounds and had five assists, but he went 8-for-20 from the field.

James Cooks, , scored 8 points, while the other Cooks - Patrick - chipped in 7 points. Other than that, the Vikings' offense was nearly nonexistent.

For the Cougars - who finished 2-2 - Kendall Andrews scored 29 points and collected a game-high 16 rebounds.

Despite the loss, the Vikings can walk away from the national tournament and return home with confidence. All three of their losses were against quality California schools, and save for a few stretch runs, Curtis did more than hang with them.

The Vikings return home to play Emerald Ridge on Friday at home.
