Golf Publication Names Chambers Bay The Nation's No. 2 Muni Course
No. 1 belonged to Bethpage State Park - Black, site of the 2009 U.S. Open.
Golfweek ranked Chambers Bay Golf Course as the No. 2 municipal course in the country, marking another public relations victory for the host of the 2015 U.S. Open.
The University Place course owned by Pierce County was behind only New York's Bethpage State Park - Black, which hosted the 2009 U.S. Open.
Looks like the two courses will be battling for the crown of the country's No. 1 municipal course for awhile, as the U.S. Open is one of professional golf's signature events. Hordes of visitors and media will attend the week-long tournament and festivities.
