Girls Lacrosse: Curtis Falls to Garfield, 15-10

Curtis' Alexa Manteufel led the offense with four goals and Kortney Hudak's three. Goalkeeper Carina Coppedge-Pope recorded a game-high 10 saves.

SEATTLE - Curtis' varsity girls lacrosse team fell to Garfield on Monday in a 15-10 contest at Genesee Playfield in Seattle.

Annie Zwaschka scored five goals as the Garfield girls recorded its first lacrosse victory of the season.

Ella Van Cleve also made offensive contributions scoring four goals and recording one assist while Naomi True added two goals and an assist of her own in the Bulldog’s win.

Curtis was led offensively by Alexa Manteufel’s four goals and Kortney Hudak’s three. Hudak also recorded two assists and two ground balls in Monday’s loss.

On defense for Curtis, goalkeeper Carina Coppedge-Pope recorded a game-high 10 saves. Garfield goalkeeper recorded a total of eight saves on the day.

Garfield (1-2-0) next faces Kennedy (3-0-0) in a 7 p.m. matchup, Thursday, March 21 at Curtis Senior High School. Curtis (0-2-0) next faces Bainbridge Island (1-0-0) in a 6:30 p.m. matchup, Wednesday, March 20 at Bainbridge High School.
