Curtis Rally Falls Short in Boys Lacrosse

Alex Larson and Bradon Dean each scored hat tricks to lead the Vikings.

TACOMA -- In the long-awaited boys high school lacrosse battle of the South Sound, Bellarmine emerged with a win a sole possession of fifth place in the Division I Southwest Conference with a 13 - 11 defeat of Curtis, Tuesday at Mt. Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma.

Entering the game tied with the Vikings for fifth in the conference, Bellarmine Prep's Connor McLeod scored five goals as the Lions held off a second-half rally by Lions to emerge with their fourth win of the season.

Bellarmine jumped to the early lead building on a 3 - 2 advantage in the first with six second-quarter goals to take a 9 - 5 half-time lead.  But in the third, the Viking came charging back with four goals to narrow the gap to 11 - 9 going into the final quarter.  In the end, Curtis could only match Bellarmine's two fourth quarter goals and was never able to close the two-goal difference.

Connor Jones had 16 saves in goal for Bellarmine, while Curtis' Alex Larson and Bradon Dean each scored hat tricks to lead the Vikings.  Kaden Del Toro had 10 ground balls to lead the Curtis defense. 

Bellarmine (4-5-0) next faces next faces Tahoma (6-7-0), Friday, April 27 in a 7 p.m. start at Tahoma High School. Curtis (4-6-0)next faces Westview (Ore. (4-5-0), Saturday, April 28 in a 5 p.m. start at Curtis High School.
