Curtis Boys & Girls Roll In Lacrosse

Quinn Moody netted five goals for the boys team, while Kortney Hudak scored five for the girls as both teams earned victories Monday.

Curtis senior attackman Quinn Moody opened the scoring with three unanswered first-quarter goals as the Vikings cruised to a 19 – 6 boys Division I high school lacrosse win over Seattle Prep, Monday at home.

Curtis built a 10 – 2 halftime advantage and added another 9 in the second half to seal the win.  Moody netted his first of five goals on the night at 11:12 of the first quarter and delivered two more by the 3:51 mark of the quarter.  Seattle Prep finally answered on a solo shot by Alexander Vincent at 1:45 and  Cassidy Miller added another with just 18 seconds remaining in the quarter to round out Panthers scoring in the half.  Colby Carr led Curtis scoring with seven points including four goals, three assists and seven ground balls.  Miller and Vincent each had two goals for the Panthers.

Curtis (3-0-0) next sees action today in an 8 p.m. home matchup with Mukilteo.  Seattle Prep (3-2-0) next sees action Saturday in a 7 p.m. matchup against Lake Tapps at Game Farm Park.

Hudak’s five goals powers Curtis past Mukilteo in girls lax

MUKILTEO –  Kortney Hudak scored five goals and Tori Gollinger netted four as Curtis powered to a 13 – 10 girls Division II high school lacrosse win over Mukilteo, Monday at Kamiak High School.

With both teams trading goals throughout the game, Curtis established itself with a 5 – 4 halftime lead before a strong second half push to bring home the win.  Carina Coppedge-Pope had eight saves in goal for the Vikings.  Sierra Shaw led Mukilteo with four goals and an assist.

Curtis (3-2-0) next sees action Wednesday in a 5:30 p.m. start at home. Mukilteo (2-3-0) is in action next against Holy Names, April 12 in a 8 p.m. start at Seattle’s Summit Field.

Garfield bulldogs Holy Names 19 – 3 in girls lacrosse

SEATTLE – Linnea Whisman scored 5 goals and Maya Code-Williams scored 4 to lead Garfield past Holy Names 19 – 3 in girls Division II high school lacrosse, Monday at Seattle’s Magnuson Park.

With a aggressive defensive play, Whisman logged 5 caused turnovers to the benefit of the Bulldog offense.  Goaltender Barite Dawud  had 4 saves for Garfield.  Claire Sullivan, Jenna Johnston and Anna Crean all scored for the Cougars.

Garfield (3-1-0) next sees action against Mercer Island Thursday, March 31 in an 8 p.m. start at Islander Stadium on Mercer Island.  Holy Names (0-3-0) is in action next against Curtis Wednesday, March 30 in a 5:30 p.m. start at Curtis High School Stadium.

Lake Tapps drops Tahoma in girls lacrosse

COVINGTON – Megan Lucchesi scored 3 goals to lead Lake Tapps to a 13 – 4 girls Division II high school lacrosse win over Tahoma, Monday at Tahoma Senior High School in Covington.

Lake Tapps jumped out to a 6 – 1 lead at the intermission before adding another 7 in the second half to seal the win.  Ashley Enlow and Hayley Smith each scored 2 goals and Ashely Mounts had 10 saves in goal for Lake Tapps.  Samantha Robertson, Ashley Gowdey, Kylie Whitehead and Christina Satko all scored for Tahoma.

Lake Tapps (3-1-0) next faces Kennedy on Thursday, March 31 in a 6:45 p.m. start at Sumner High School.  Tahoma (1-4-0) sees action next against Bellevue East on Wednesday, March 30 in a 5:30 p.m. start at Robinswood Park in Bellevue.
