Cornelius Edison, Feb. 17

In this entry, Cornelius describes one of the strangest incidents he's ever run into. In the end, however, he and his friends ended up helping a guy out. (He thinks, so anyway)

Hey everyone! I hope everyone had a good Valentine’s Day.

This past weekend was quite strange. On Saturday evening around 6 o’clock, my friends and I encountered the weird event. Let’s start from the beginning…

It was about 5:30 p.m. on Saturday when my friends Jason, Tyler, Katief and I started texting each other about going to the YMCA on Pearl Street to play a little basketball. After everyone got ready, Jason picked me up first since I was closest to his house. Next, we picked up Katief. We then picked up Tyler, who lives on Sixth Avenue.

After picking him up, we drove down Sixth and as we passed a little convenient store. Get this - Tyler spotted someone on the ground motionless. At this time of night, it was dark and it just so happened to be raining outside. We had no clue what to do, so Jason turned his truck around so we could get a second look at the person. When we got closer, I noticed the person had a cane in their hand.

We whipped into the parking and ran over. I told Tyler to go inside to inform the employees but they couldn’t speak English. We asked the man if he needed us to call 911 and he said yes, so Jason called them. He then attempted to get up but couldn't, so Katief and I helped him up and put him in his car. He seemed a little delusional at the time and thanked us.

While Jason was on the phone trying to get medical assistance to arrive, the man decided to close his car door and drive off. Personally, I felt like he should not be driving because he was bleeding a tiny bit on the back of his head. 911 said once he got into his car no one could do anything. So we ended up following him home (to find he lived close to Tyler) to make sure he made it home safely. We were proud of ourselves for possibly saving this man’s life. Something like that doesn’t happen all the time.

Talk to ya later!
