Stewart Nets Season-High Six Goals In Viks Lacrosse Win

On the strength of Carson Stewart's strong offensive output, which gave the junior 13 goals on the season, Curtis picks up its second win.

The Vikings picked up their second win against Lake Tapps on Thursday. Here's the recap, courtesy of Washington State Lacrosse:

Carson Stewart scored a season high six goals to lead Curtis to a 14 – 6 win over Lake Tapps, Thursday at home.  The win was the second straight and sixth overall for the Vikings.

In the first, Curtis jumped out to blank Lake Tapps 3 – 0, and again held its opponent scoreless in the second taking a 6 – 0 lead into the intermission.  In the third, the Vikings netted four goals and held Tapps to just two, before each netted four goals in the final stanza.

Stewart’s scoring gives the junior attackman 13 goals on the season.  Quinn Moody, Colby Carr and Alex Larson each had two and Dillon Cavanagh had 10 ground balls for the Vikings.  Juoey Lucchesi and Keenan Fagan netted two apiece to lead all Lake Tapps scorers.

Curtis (6-3-0) next faces Puyallup (0-7-0), Saturday in a 7 p.m. start at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup.  Lake Tapps (2-6-0) next faces Eastside Catholic (9-2-0), Saturday, April 16 in a 7:30 p.m. start at Sumner High School.

Barrett’s 5 goals lifts Northshore over Lakeside in boys lacrosse

BOTHELL – Kyle Barrett scored a season high 5 goals as Northshore chalked up its fourth win of the season with an 18 – 1 boys high school lacrosse win over Lakeside, Thursday at Bothell High School.

Barrett’s scoring gave the Inglemoor senior attackman 12 goals for the year. 

Northshore jumped out to a 3 – 0 lead in the first and poured on a 9-goal second to take a comfortable 12 – 1 margin into the intermission.  In the third, Northshore added another 5 goals and matched the Lions’ single goal in the fourth.

Northshore (4-5-0) next faces Bellevue (8-2-0), Wednesday, April 20 in an 8 p.m. start at Bellevue High School.  Lakeside (2-10-0) next faces Skyline (7-5-0), Tuesday, April 26 in a 5 p.m. start at the Lakeside School in north Seattle.

Eastlake defense shuts down Vashon in boys lacrosse

SAMMAMISH – Zach Shute scored 4 goals to lead Eastlake in scoring, cruising to its sixth win of the season in an 18 – 2 boys high school lacrosse defeat of Vashon, Thursday at Eastlake High School in Sammamish.  The win was the fourth in the last five games for Eastlake.

Behind a hungry defense, Eastlake held Vashon scoreless for the first quarter to jump out to a 5 – 0 lead and allowed only a single Vashon goal in the second to take a 14 – 1 advantage into the intermission.  In the third, again defense was king with Eastlake scoring another 2 goals and holding the Pirates scoreless.  

Platooning at goal and midfield, Avery Harkins was hardly tested, finishing the first three quarters in the Eastlake nets, making just 2 saves. In the fourth he tallied one of two Eastlake scores with 3:35 remaining.  The goal was the first of the season for the junior.  

Eastlake (6-4-0) next faces Overlake (2-5-0), Wednesday, April 20 in a 7:30 p.m. start at Eastlake High School in Sammamish.  Vashon (1-5-0) next faces Lynnwood (0-7-0), Saturday, April 16 in a 7 p.m. start at Vashon High School.

Rambaldini powers Eastside Catholic past Skyline in boys lacrosse

SAMMAMISH – Senior captain Michael Rambaldini had another defining night of lacrosse scoring 5 goals and grabbing 10 ground balls as Eastside Catholic powered past neighbor Skyline 22 – 19 for its ninth boys lacrosse win of the season,  Thursday on the campus of the Eastside Catholic School in Sammamish.  The win was the fifth straight for the high flying Crusaders and the ninth in their last 10 starts.

In the first, Skyline jumped out to the early 4 – 3 lead, before Eastside Catholic came charging back with 7 goals in the second to take a narrow 10 – 9 lead into the half.  In the third, the Crusaders poured on another 5 goals and held the Spartans to just two to take a 15 – 11 lead into the fourth.  With both teams, seemingly scoring at will, Skyline managed 8 goals, outscoring the Crusaders by one in the fourth but were unable to challenge.

It was the fifth game where Rambaldini scored five or more goals.  The midfielder now has 41 on the season.  Colin MacIlvennie led all scorers with 6 goals and added 9 ground balls, while Ross Komenda had 5 scores for the Crusaders.  Skyline’s Jack Pruitt, Andrew Hankey and Alan DeWeirdt handled the heavy lifting for Skyline, each scoring 4 goals.

Eastside Catholic (9-2-0) next faces Lake Tapps (2-6-0), Saturday, April 16 in a 7:30 p.m. start at Sumner High School.  Skyline (7-5-0) next faces Tacoma (5-0-0), Wednesday, April 20 in an 8 p.m. start at Mt. Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma.

Bellevue rolls past Lynnwood in boys lacrosse

LYNNWOOD – In a battle of champions, Drew Douglas netted 6 goals as Bellevue rolled past Lynnwood 18 – 1 in boys high school lacrosse action, Thursday at Lynnwood High School.  The win advanced the defending Division I state champion Wolverines to 8-2-0 on the season, while Lynnwood, playing its first season in the upper division after winning the 2010 Division II crown, is winless in seven starts this season.

Bellevue showed its might early, blanking the Tigers as it established an 8-goal lead in the first.  In the second, the Wolverine defense again dominated as Bellevue took a 10 – 0 advantage into the half.  Allowing just one goal in the third, a solo shot by Lynwood’s Sam Girgus, assisted by his brother Cameron, Bellevue netted another 4 in the quarter and 4 in the final stanza to round out the scoring.

Douglas’ scoring, his highest output of the season, gave the midfielder 8 goals on the season.Cole Johnson and Hank Bethke each contributed 3 goals for the Wolverines.  David Dekoukkouk kept busy in the nets by a relentless, Wolverine attack, had 15 saves for Lynnwood.

Metro-leading Garfield tops Franklin in boys lax

SEATTLE – Cedric Rhodes scored 3 goals and dished 4 assists as Garfield cruised to its sixth boys high school lacrosse win of the season in with an  18 – 3 defeat of Franklin, Thursday at Seattle’s Genesee Park.  The win keeps the Bulldogs in the top spot of the Metro, just a half game ahead of Blanchet.

With the hat trick, Rhodes has 20 goals on the season for the 6-2-0 Bulldogs.  Jackson Lanning netted 3 goals and 3 assists, while Carl Barnes and Montana Reed combined for 11 ground balls.

Garfield (6-2-0) next faces Ballard (4-7-0), Tuesday, April 26 in a 5 p.m. start at Seattle’s Genesee Park.  Franklin (0-9-0) next faces Nathan Hale (4-4-0), Thursday, April 28 in a 5:45 p.m. start at Summit Fields in Seattle.

Whatcom pulls away from Everett in boys lax

EVERETT – Jona Mannering scored a season-high 5 goals to lead Whatcom to a 12 – 7 boys high school lacrosse win over Everett, Thursday at Walter Hall Park in Everett.  The win was the third of the season for the Skagit Division leading Warriors. 

Everett established itself first jumping out to a 4 – 1 first-quarter lead before Whatcom countered in the second with 4 goals of its own, holding Everett to just one, to even the halftime score at 5 – 5.  In the second half, Whatcom began to pull away, outscoring Everett  3 – 1 in the third and 4 – 1 in the fourth to seal the win.

Whatcom (3-2-0) next faces San Juan (0-6-0), Saturday, April 16 in a 2 p.m. start at Friday Harbor High School.  Everett (0-6-0) next faces San Juan (0-6-0), Saturday, April 23 in a 2 p.m. start at Friday Harbor High School.

Blanchet downs Hale in boys lacrosse

SEATTLE – Daniel Vanderhoef netted 2 goals and grabbed 6 ground balls as Blanchet pulled away from Nathan Hale for a 10 – 7 boys high school lacrosse win, Thursday at Summit Fields in Seattle.

Blanchet put together a balanced attack, with five players each scoring two goals. Down by seven in the fourth quarter, Hale netted 4 goals in the last five minutes, but the Raiders were unable to catch the Braves.

Zane Seilke, Conner Black, Sutin Pruitt and James Donaldson all netted 2 goals for Blanchet.  Jack MacIntire had 3 goals and 11 ground balls and Alex Wright added a goal and 9 ground balls for the Raiders.

Roosevelt lacrosse takes Ballard down in second half

SEATTLE – Eli Harmon netted 4 goals as Roosevelt broke free from a 5 – 5 halftime tie to outlast Ballard 7 – 6 in boys high school lacrosse action, Thursday at Lower Woodland Park in Seattle.

The win lifted the Roughriders to their third win of the season, deadlocked in a three- way tie with the Beavers and Nathan Hale for third spot in the Metro Division. 

Connor McCarthy grabbed 7 ground balls to lead the Roughriders on defense. Brian Gemme had 2 goals, Nic Conti had a goal, 2 assists and 3 ground balls and Anthony Meyer had 9 ground balls for the Beavers.

Moisant nets 5 goals as Providence downs Snohomish in boys lacrosse

SEATTLE – Attackman Caleb Moisant netted 5 goals to lead Providence Classical Christian School to a 13 – 6 boys high school lacrosse win over Snohomish, Thursday at Lake Stevens High School. 

Moisant’s 5-goals on the night give the sophomore 23 on the season to lead Providence in scoring.

Providence jumped out to a 7 – 4 lead at the half before cruising to their sixth win of the season.

Harrison Wartes netted 2 goals, contributed 3 assists and grabbed 7 ground balls in the Highlanders’ win.  Brandon Todd scored 3 goals and grabbed 6 ground balls for Snohomish.

Clements nets 7 to power Lake Sammamish past Tacoma in girls lax

TACOMA – Allison Clements scored a season-high 7 goals to drive the Lake Sammamish offense in a 21 – 9 girls high school lacrosse win over Tacoma, Thursday at Mason Middle School in Tacoma.

The win lifted Sammamish to their third win of the season and gave Clements 22 goals on the season to lead Sammamish scoring. 

Lake Sammamish was powerful from the start, outscoring Tacoma 16 – 4 by halftime, before cruising to the win.

Maggie Lehr added 2 goals and Zoe Escarda had 3 for Sammamish, while Sadie Treleven had the hat trick for Tacoma and Charlie Tisakowski came up with 12 saves in goal.

Lake Sammamish (3-2-0) next faces Seattle Prep (3-4-0), Tuesday, April 19 in a 4:30 p.m. start at Redmond’s Marymoor Park.  Tacoma (3-2-0) next faces Holy Names (0-4-1), Friday, April 15 in a 5:30 p.m. start at Seattle’s Magnuson Park.

Undefeated Snohomish girls drop MI for 11th lax win

MERCER ISLAND – Kayla Petz and Meghan Hess each tallied a hat trick to power visiting Snohomish past Mercer Island 15 – 10 in girls high school lacrosse action, Thursday at Islander Stadium on Mercer Island.

The win was the 11th of the season for the undefeated Panthers, who remain tied with Lakeside for the top spot in Division I play.

Stephanie Lamphere netted two goals just 49 seconds apart and added an assist has Snohomish’s powerful offense kicked into gear in the final 2 minutes of the first half to give the Panthers a 10 – 3 advantage going into the second.  Lamphere’s nifty assist with just 23 seconds remaining fed Hess for the 10th goal of the half.

Petz and Hess were among 9 players to score for Snohomish.   Elean Skouras netted 4 goals, Dulce Moll had 3 and Erika Eagan had 6 saves in the nets for the Islanders.

Lake Sammamish D2 squad surprises Lake Tapps in girls lacrosse

REDMOND – Marlena Masterleo scored 4 goals to lead Lake Sammamish girls Division II squad to surprise Lake Tapps with a 15 – 5 girls lacrosse win, Thursday at Redmond’s Marymoor Park.

The win was the fourth of the season for the fifth place Lake Sammamish squad.  Lake Tapps dropped just their second of the season, but remains tied with Curtis and Klahowya for second spot in the Southeast.

Lake Sammamish exerted itself early, building an 11 – 2 halftime advantage before cruising to the win in the second.

Masterleo’s 4 goals matched a season-high for the midfielder and gives her 17 on the season.  Alex Johnson and Hannah Linsky also contributed 3 goals for Lake Sammamish. Megan Lucchesi and Morgan Lancaster each netted 2 goals and Kylie Keener had a solo shot for Lake Tapps.

Reilly’s 8 goals powers Snohomish D2 girls past MI in lacrosse

MERCER ISLAND – Kaya Reilly scored a season-high 8 goals to power Snohomish past Mercer Island 17 – 6 in girls Division II high school lacrosse action, Thursday at Islander Stadium on Mercer Island. 

Third place Snohomish jumped out to an 11 – 3 advantage at the half before cruising to its third win of the season.  MI dropped its fifth.

Reilly’s 8 goals gives her 32 on the season to lead the Panther offense.  Devi Smith also netted 4 goals and Jessica Lucas had 10 saves in goal.  For the Islanders, Lidsey Adams and Dalia Nayfeh each had a pair, while Mallory Manzano grabbed 5 ground balls and Wesley Tomlinson forced 4 caused turnovers to lead the defense.

Snohomish (3-3-1) next faces Bainbridge (2-3-0), Wednesday, April 20 in a 6:15 p.m. start at Bainbridge Stadium.  Mercer Island (2-5-0) next faces Wenatchee (1-4-0), Tuesday, April 19 in a 5:30 p.m. start on the Mercer Island JV Field.

Ballard upends Evergreen in girls lacrosse

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Kelsey Barta netted a hat trick to lead Ballard to a 16 – 4 girls Division II high school lacrosse win over Evergreen, Thursday at Vancouver’s McKenzie Stadium.

The win evened the third-place Beavers’ record at 4-4-0.

Evergreen’s improved defensive play kept Ballard scoreless for the first six and a half minutes of the opening half, before the Beavers found the net.  With a 9 – 0 lead to open the second, Ballard netted another 7 goals, allowing just 4 to cruise to the win.

For the Beavers, Hayley Jackson, Jordan Westerman and Dayan Flynn-Walsh each contributed 2 goals.  Evergreen’s Mariesa Smith had 2 goals, while Casey Bahr mad 6 stops in goal.

Ballard (4-4-0) next faces Mercer Island (2-5-0), Tuesday, April 26 in a 5:30 p.m. start at Ballard High School.  Evergreen (0-5-0) next faces North Kitsap (1-4-0), Saturday, April 16 in a 1 p.m. start at Vancouver’s McKenzie Stadium.
