Carr Nets Quatro In Viks' Victory; Curtis Sits Atop D-I Southwest

Led by Air Force Academy-bound Colby Carr, Curtis opened with four straight goals. The girls team plays today when Holy Names pays a visit to UP.

Carr’s 4 goals lifts Curtis past Mukilteo in boys lacrosse

scored 4 goals and added 3 assists to lift Curtis to its third win of the season in a 14 – 2 boys high school lacrosse win over Mukilteo, Tuesday at home.

Curtis opened scoring with 4 unanswered goals  before Mukilteo’s Bethea Tyri fired a shot past Curtis goalkeeper Tony Nigh at 11:54 in the second to make it 4 -1. But that was all in the half for Mukilteo as Curtis opened up a 10 – 1 lead by the half.

In the second half Curtis added another 4 goals and Alex Okemah converted a shot to round out Mukilteo scoring.  Nigh had 7 saves for Curtis, while Mukilteo goalkeeper Nick Gregory had 7 saves in the loss. Mukilteo (2-3-0) next sees action against Skyline, April 12. Curtis (3-1-0) is in action next at Skyline, 8 p.m., Thursday. 

With the win, Curtis now sits atop the D-I Southwest division.

King’s Way lacrosse drops heartbreaker to Wilsonville in Oregon

WILSONVILLE, Ore. – Jack Beall scored 4 unanswered goals in the final minutes of regulation to bring Kings’ Way within a goal of tying undefeated Wilsonville High School of Oregon, but the Knights final shot sailed wide as time expired, giving the Wild Cats a 6 – 5  high school lacrosse win, Tuesday on their  home field. 

King’s Way (4-1-0) next faces Mercer Island, Friday, April 1 at Columbia River High School in Vancouver.

Tahoma nets 18 to down Lakeside in boys lacrosse

SEATTLE – Mike Roessler netted 4 goals to lead Tahoma in an 18 – 2 boys Division I high school lacrosse win over Lakeside, Tuesday at the Lakeside Upper School in north Seattle.  Gabe Pascualy opened scoring in the game to give Lakeside a 1 – 0 lead, but that was all for the Lions until the fourth as Tahoma netted 18 unanswered goals to dominate the Lions.  Tahoma longpole defender Riley Owens dominated faceoffs and scooped up 7 ground balls to set the stage for the scoring onslought. Tahoma’s Mike Roessler led scoring with 4 goals and 2 assists and Dez Decker added 3 goals, 2 assists, and 5 ground balls. The Lions’ Keaton Santi scored the lone fourth quarter goal.  Tahoma (4-1-0) next faces Eastside Catholic on Saturday, April 2 in a 7:30 p.m. start at the Eastside Catholic School.  Lakeside (0-6-0) sees action next Thursday, March 31 in a 5 p.m. home start against Vashon.

Eastside Catholic lax pulls away from Northshore for 4th win

SAMMAMISH – Colin MacIlvennie netted 4 goals and Mike Rambaldini scored 3 as Eastside Catholic pulled away in the second half for an 18 – 16 boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Northshore, Tuesday at Charlie Acosta Field on the campus of the Eastside Catholic School in Sammamish. The Crusaders fought for an 8 – 8 draw at the intermission before taking a one goal lead in the third.    In the fourth, Eastside Catholic again outscored Northshore by one to carve out the win.  Foster Wisman scored 5 goals, Drew Tosaya had 4 and Kevin Luo had 11 saves in goal for Northshore.  Eastside Catholic (4-1-0) next faces Tahoma, Saturday, April 2 in a 7:30 p.m. start at Tahoma High School.  Northshore (2-4-0) next faces Sammamish in a 7:30 p.m. start, Thursday, March 31 at Newport High School.

Tacoma sails to lax win over Lake Tapps behind Stockdale’s 9 goals

BONNEY LAKE –  Garrett Stockdale scored a season-high 9 goals and Max Jones netted 8 as Tacoma preserved an undefeated record with a 29 – 17 boys Division I high school lacrosse win, Tuesday at Bonney Lake High School.  Tacoma netted 16 second-half goals, building on a 13 – 9 half time lead, as Lake Tapps failed to successfully clear the ball time after time in the second half.  Jacob Bolek netted 7 goals and Connor McLeod added four in the goal haul for Tacoma.  For Lake Tapps, Andy Russel, Kennan Fagan and Joey Lucchesi all netted 3 goals.  Tacoma (4-0-0) next sees action against Overlake in a 6 p.m. start at Mt. Tahoma Stadium. Lake Tapps (1-4-0) next faces Seattle Prep, Saturday, April 2 in a 7 p.m. start at Game Farm Park.

Hoffman’s hat trick leads Issaquah past Overlake in boys lacrosse

ISSAQUAH – AJ Joffman netted his first hat trick on the varsity squad to lead Issaquah to a 13 – 3 boys lacrosse defeat of Overlake, Tuesday at Issaquah High School.  The Eagles scored 5 unanswered goals in the first quarter and added another 6 in the second to take an 11 – 1 lead into the half, before cruising to the win. In the win, Alex Cizsewski netted his first career varsity goal and goalkeeper O’neil Hughes had 5 saves in the nets.  Overlake’s Barrett Jenness netted 2 goals and Erik Risa collected 14 ground balls for the Owls. Issaquah (6-1-0) next sees action against Puyallup, Saturday, April 2 in a 7 p.m. start at Sparks Stadium.  Overlake (2-4-0) is in action next against Tacoma, Wednesday, March 30 in a 6 p.m. start at Mt. Tahoma Stadium.

Skyline sails to 23 – 2 boys lax win over Lynnwood

SAMMAMISH – Cannon Gardner and Ryan Benz each scored a season-high 7 goals as Skyline rolled to a 23 – 2 boys Division I high school lacrosse win over Lynnwood, Tuesday at Skyline High School in Sammamish.  Spencer Noonan, Nick Davey and Raymond Hess led the way defensively for Skyline, collectively grabbing 21 ground balls to set the table for the Spartans offense.  Cory Larson and Christopher Debenham each had 3 saves in goal for Skyline.  Skyline (4-3-0) is in action next against Curtis, Thursday, March 31 in an 8 p.m. start at Skyline High School in Sammamish.  Lynnwood (0-5-0) next faces Eastside Catholic, Tuesday, April 12 in a 7 p.m. start at Meadowdale High School.

Boys Division II

Ballard drops Hale in boys lacrosse

SEATTLE –Ray McCormick and John Degarmo scored 4 goals each to lead Ballard to a 15 - 6 boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Nathan Hale, Tuesday at Seattle’s Queen Anne Bowl.  The Beavers extended a 7 – 2 first quarter lead to 10 – 3 at the intermission.  In the third the Beavers added another 3 and 2 more in the final stanza to round out scoring.  The Beavers aggressive pursuit of ground balls and patient passing game kept the ball in Ballard’s possession for much of the game.  Eight different Ballard players scored in win.   Nathan Hale attackman David Shiplett and midfielder Jack MacIntire both had strong performances combining for 3 goals and four assists.  Dave Shiplett netted 2 goals and 2 assists and Aiden Iodice had 14 saves in goal for Hale.  Ballard (2-2-0) next faces Selah, Friday, April 1 at Selah High School.  Nathan Hale (2-1-0) is in action again Friday, April 1 in a 7 p.m. start against Three Rivers at Badger Mountain Park in Richland.

Sammamish downs Liberty to advance to 6-0 in boys lacrosse

BELLEVUE – Tyvan Schmidt, Brian Headland and Sean Sternberg each scored 3 goals as Sammamish advanced to 6-0 with a 17 – 1 boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Liberty, Tuesday at Interlake High School in Bellevue.  With 7 freshman starting for Liberty, the Patriots’ fell victim to the potent scoring attack that has fueled an undefeated start for Sammamish. Brian Headland opened scoring for Sammamish at 8:55 of the first, firing an unassisted shot past Liberty goalkeeper Roland Rex.  Just 27 seconds later, the Patriots’ Sam Dodt grabbed a ground ball deep in the Sammamish zone and dashed up field, dishing a nifty pass to Anthony Mantz at the top of the box.  Mantz quickly turned on the pass hitting Dalton O’Brien on the left corner of the crease, who fired a shot past Sammamish goalkeeper Mitch Williams to tie the game at one.  But that was all for Liberty, as Sammamish took a 7 – 1 lead into the intermission and added another 10 in the second half.  Sammamish (6-0-0) next sees action against Northshore, Thursday, March 31 in an 8 p.m. start at Newport High School.  Liberty (0-3-0) is also in action Thursday, March 31 in a 5:15 p.m. start at Maywood Middle School.

Olson nets 3 as Gig Harbor drops South Kitsap in boys lacrosse

GIG HARBOR – Cody Olson scored 3 goals to lead Gig Harbor to its third win of the season in a 13 – 9 boys Division II high school lacrosse victory over rival South Kitsap, Tuesday at Peninsula High School.  The Fire extended a 5 – 0 first quarter lead to a 10 – 1 halftime advantage before cruising to the win in the second half.   Olson and Ricky Chenoweth combined for 10 ground balls to set the table for the potent Gig Harbor offense.  Kellen Kennedy led South Kitsap with 5 goals and 5 ground balls and Ben Landry had 14 saves in goal.  Gig Harbor (3-2-0) next faces Vashon’s JV squad, Wednesday, March 30 in a 7 p.m. start at Vashon High School.  South Kitsap (0-5-0) next faces rival North Kitsap, Wednesday, April 13 in a 5 p.m. start at Veteran’s Memorial Park.

SEATTLE – Alex Foreman scored 5 goals and Lauren Braynaert netted 4 and an assist as Eastside Catholic powered to their first win of the season in a 19 – 18 girls Division I high school lacrosse victory over Seattle Prep, Tuesday at Seattle’s Magnuson Park.  The Crusaders held on to a narrow 10 – 9 lead at the half before hanging on for the win.  Prep junior Emily Cone scored a season-high 7 points including 6 goals and 1 assists in the loss for the Panthers.  Eastside Catholic (1-4-0) next faces Mercer Island, Thursday, March 31 in a 4:30 p.m. start at Islander Stadium.  Seattle Prep (2-3-0) next faces Roosevelt, Thursday, April 7 at Seattle’s Lower Woodland Park.

Mincin girls combine for 11 goals as Issaquah downs Roosevelt in girls lax

SEATTLE – Haley, Emily and Katie Mincin combined for 11 goals to lead Issaquah to their second win of the season in a 16 – 3 girls Division I high school lacrosse victory over Roosevelt, Tuesday at Seattle’s Lower Woodland Park Playfield.  Haley netted 5 goals, while Emily and Katie each added 3 to drive Issaquah’s scoring.  Sam Quamma scored 3 for Roosevelt in the loss.  Issaquah (2-1-1) next faces Bellevue, Friday, April 15 in a 6:15 p.m. start at Skyline High School in Sammamish.  Roosevelt (2-2-0) next takes on Lakeside, Friday, April 1 in a 4:45 p.m. start at the Lakeside Upper School in north Seattle.

Patten’s 4 goals leads Kennedy past MI in girls lacrosse

BURIEN – Julianne Patten led Kennedy with 4 goals as the Lancers netted their third win of the season, downing visiting Mercer Island 14 – 4 in girls Division II high school lacrosse action, Tuesday at Kennedy High School.  Brianna Goodwin added 2 goals and 5 ground balls and Jessica Lackie had 8 saves for the Lancers.  Kelsey Judd netted 2 goals and Audrey Airut-Murphy had 9 saves in goal for the Islanders. With the loss Mercer Island dropped to 2-3-0 on the season.  Kennedy (3-1-1) next faces Lake Tapps, Thursday, March 31 in a 6:45 p.m. start at Sumner High School.  Mercer Island (2-3-0) see action next against Garfield, Thursday, March 31 in an 8 p.m. start at Islander Stadium on Mercer Island.

Meier’s 5 goals leads Forest Ridge over Evergreen in girls lax

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Haley Meier scored a season-high 5 goals to lead Forest Ridge to a 20 – 2 girls Division II high school lacrosse win over Vancouver’s Evergreen, Tuesday at Bellevue’s Robinswood Park.  The Ravens jumped out to a 10 – 2 lead at the intermission before adding another 10 in the second to cruise to the win and the highest scoring output in their four games this season.  Kelly Brennan added 3 goals and Camila Gomez had 6 saves in goal for Forest Ridge.  Sara Ornelas-Casarez and Lauren Hurst each found the net for Evergreen.  Forest Ridge (2-2-0) next faces Klahowya, Monday, April 11 in a 6:45 p.m. start at Klahowya Secondary School in Silverdale.   Evergreen (0-4-0) next faces Ballard, Thursday, April 14 in a 7 p.m. start at Vancouver’s McKenzie Stadium.
