With Church Preschool Behind Her, University Place Presbyterian Teacher Fighting Cancer

Pauline May isn't taking cancer lying down.

In fact, the Sunset Christian Preschool teacher is on her feet, dancing around and smacking cancer right under the jaw.

May was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer earlier this month. The University Place wife and mother of three began chemotherapy treatments this week.

Yet, according to her family at the University Place Presbyterian preschool, she hasn't lost her spark. She's positive, and even though her fight may be a long one, she is seemingly fearless.

And she isn't fighting alone.

Sunset Christian is rallying around May, both in spirit and support. One of the ways it's doing so is by trying to raise money for May's "Wig Fund."

It is already encouraging families of its students to donate. It is also directing people to the Pauline's Power website, where visitors can purchase bracelets and key chains to help her family.

"While many were still reeling from the diagnosis, Pauline has already put her boxing gloves on," the preschool tells Patch. "Her individual attitude and spirit are enough to knock out cancer, but the fight will have many rounds and we will be there to support Pauline and her family, love them and finally celebrate Pauline's victory with them."
