WHIZ KIDS: UP Pirates U-14 Baseball Team Leaves It All On The Diamond
University Place has been well represented in the leagues around the South Sound, as the UP Pirates team played in the Lakewood Baseball League from April to June. It's now completing their Summer Metro Park League tonight at SERA fields.

Members: Braden Ash, Payson Simmons, Aldus Simmons, Richard Guinup, Trey Bretana, Kellen Fenton, Hunter Lybbert, Ethan Christenson, Drew Joyal, Georgie Thompson, Michael Mehlmen, T'ave Metzger-Magalei.

Accomplishments: The UP Pirates have been practicing since March for this years baseball season.
The spring rain, mud and drips didn't dampen the hopes of these 13-14 year olds hopes for a successful season on the field. Reviewing the basics of throwing, pitching, sliding and base running prepared them to be competitive in each game.

This year they started league play in Lakewood Baseball Pony League. They had successful season and finishing fourth place in the playoffs. Their were other UP teams respresented in the league ‚— UP Vikings, Cubs, Heat and Reality Sports. Two other teams rounded out the division with seven
The Boys of Summer are alive and well in the Tacoma Metro Park league. The University Place Pirates have had a great season with 6-3 record. They are tied for second place. They can earn their seventh win tonight at SERA fields.
Key To Awesomeness: They play as a team in every aspect of the baseball game. Supporting pitchers as they battle each batter. Cheering base hits as Pirates claim, "everyone hits!" Good luck tonight in your final game and thanks for being sportsman on the ball field while representing University Place.
