Ten students from Charles Wright Academy took home honors at the regional National History Day competition. They will be compete again in May at the state level.

Whiz kids: Ten Students at

Team Coaches: Sadlier, Nick Coddington, and Athea Cawley-Murphee

Accomplishments: National History Day begins at the school level in November.  The students research and create either group or individual entries. The strongest are selected  for the school team to represent the school at the regional competition.  There are several catagories: website, paper, exhibit, documentary and performance.  CWA students competed against several area schools.  The top three entries in each category advanced to the state competition in May where more than 500 students will compete for state titles and an opportunity to advance to the national competition held each June in Washington, D.C.

The students each researched, analyzed and determined how events change and impact world history.  They present their findings to a panel of judges in a variety of formats.  Students picked their own topics to fit the theme: Debate and Diplomacy in History: Successes, Failures, Consequences.

Key to Awesomeness:  The students are challenged to conduct scholarly research while using primary and secondary resources.  They were researching for more insight or experience to continue to develop their projects.  The following are the winning team members and projects:
