This morning, firefighters picked up a student from his home in University Place and drove him to school.

But it wasn't just any old ride.

The Fire Prevention Week contest was held in October, where all of the primary grade students received fire safety homework to do with their family.  Each student that turned his or her homework in was entered in a drawing to win a ride to school on the fire engine.

More than 800 students entered the contest, while one classroom received a pizza party at the fire station back in May for receiving 100 percent participation.

Not only did Noah and his younger sister get a ride to school, but the firefighters wanted to make sure he had the full experience, so they took them to get donuts for breakfast.

Captain Mark Viramontes and Firefighters Todd Lambert and Colby Coppinger all shared donuts with the kids and even let Noah sit in the captain’s seat on the way to school.  As they turned the corner into University Place Primary, they flipped on the lights and sirens and were greeted by two classrooms of students, all of whom got their pictures taken in front of the ladder truck.

Congratulations Noah and thank you to all of the students who participated!
