University Place Schools Honored By State

Sunset and Chambers Primary each received a 2011 Washington Achievement Award, which is based on assessment data.

The state honored and schools for their efforts in improving classroom excellence, officials learned this month.

The schools each won a 2011 Washington Achievement Award, which is based on three year’s worth of a school’s assessment data. The information is measured via a methodology called the Washington Achievement Index, which is approved by the state.

Sunset Primary was one of more than 100 schools statewide to be honored for overall excellence.

Chambers Primary got the honor for its improvement on assessment data, particularly among low-income students.
