Tomick Necessary to Perform at Carnegie Hall in February

Tomick will be a part of the Honors Orchestra as a Bassist. Torsen Necessary, a flutist whom Patch profiled earlier, was selected for the second year in a row but is unable to attend this year due to college audition commitments.

Tomick Necessary, a freshman at and a senior at Curtis, have been selected for the 2012 American High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall.

Tomick will be a part of the Honors Orchestra as a Bassist. Torsen, a flutist, was selected for the second year in a row but is unable to attend this year due to college audition commitments.

Participation in the Honors Orchestra, Honors Band, and Honors Choir is limited to the highest rated high school performers from across North America and select international schools.

Tomick auditioned this past spring for the Honors Performance Series and was accepted after a review by the Selection Board committee. Acceptance to this elite group is a direct result of the talent, dedication, and achievements demonstrated in his application and audition recording.

Tomick Necessary will join other performers from the United States and Canada for a special performance at world-famous Carnegie Hall, a venue that marks the pinnacle of musical achievement.

Tomick studies music with Anna Jensen and is a member of Tacoma Youth Symphony.Β  Additionally, he is active in the Puget Sound Youth Wind Ensemble and the Curtis High Orchestra. He also participates in the academic challenge program at Curtis.

Tomick and other orchestra Finalists will come together for five days in February 2011 in New York City to have the opportunity to learn from conductor Dr. Charles Peltz, work with other Finalists, and get a taste of New York City. The Sunday, February 22nd performance is available to the public and specially-invited representatives from collegiate music programs.

The Honors Performance Series was created to showcase accomplished individual high school performers by allowing them to study under master conductors and perform in the celebrated venue, Carnegie Hall. Students from 48 US states, Canada, Germany, Korea and Taiwan have participated in the Series.
