TCC Product, 'The Voice' Finalist Vicci Martinez Establishes Arts Scholarship For Women

The Vicci Martinez Arts Scholarship for Women at TCC is a testament, the school says, to the teamwork of a thriving Tacoma arts community, which is the shared vision of the local musician and TCC.

Vicci Martinez, singer/songwriter and former Tacoma Community College Running Start student and Stadium High School Graduate, lends her voice to cut a new TCC radio spot called, “Reach Higher.” The spot will air on Pandora.

In addition to lending her time and talent, Martinez - who was a runner-up in the first season of NBC's "The Voice" - has set up the Vicci Martinez Arts Scholarship for Women at TCC. The scholarship is a testament to the teamwork of a thriving Tacoma arts community – the shared vision of local musician Vicci Martinez and a Tacoma Community College that encourages everyone to Reach Higher.

Applicants for the Scholarship must plan to attend TCC in the Fall 2013 Quarter, maintain a GPA above 2.0, and be female. Martinez, who will be playing a role in the selection process, will also be interested in learning about the applicant’s passion for the arts and artistic aspirations.

The Scholarship application process will open at the end of Spring Quarter selection process will take place over the summer and the winner will receive $1,500 towards their fall tuition and fees.
