REPORT: Curtis Product Rahmel Dockery To Play Cornerback For The Cougars

The speedster had been learning Mike Leach's offense at wide receiver, but the switch to defense will allow Dockery to see meaningful playing time sooner. It's a position he played plenty of when he was a Viking.

PULLMAN, WA-Rahmel Dockery saw many balls thrown his direction during his playing days at Curtis High.

He might see the same on the Palouse, only now, he'll have to bat those balls down or pick them off.

According to Christian Caple of The Spokesman Review, Dockery is now playing the cornerback position for Washington State University despite prepping for the .

After climbing the depth chart at, Dockery himself took the offer from first-year Cougars Coach Mike Leach, Caple reports:

Dockery, a freshman from Tacoma, said coaches left the decision between cornerback and receiver up to him. But since receiver is one of WSU’s deepest positions, it was obvious that corner would provide him a chance to get on the field earlier.

“Coach said it was my decision to switch or stay where I was, but he said most likely I would redshirt (at receiver),” Dockery said. “He just told me to make the best of it and that’s what I’m doing right now.”
