RECAP: OSU Stuns UW at Pac-12 Tourney

The Huskies clawed their way back into the game after trailing big at halftime, but missed missed free throws and an inability to stop the Beavers resulted in early ousting from the Pac-12 Tournament.

LOS ANGELES-For the first time in two years, Washington will not hoist a Pac-12 Tournament trophy.

The team that more boasted talent, size and quickness didn't come out on top Thursday. Instead, the No. 1-seeded Huskies watched as Oregon State University celebrated sending another Washington team home.

The 86-84 loss to the No. 9-seeded Beavers hurt because the Huskies had fought their way back from a 13-point halftime deficit. The team lead by six points with less than three minutes remaining.

Then, Oregon State went on its own run, taking a one-point lead with less than a minute remaining. Tony Wroten of Renton was fouled and could have taken the lead on the ensuing free throws. Instead, he missed both.

After the seconds ticked away on the game, Wroten left the court with his head in his hands. It was the first time the No. 9 seed had beaten No. 1.

In the locker room, Wroten slumped in his chair. His teammates also silent.

Their NCAA Tournament, more than unlikely a week ago, are now in jeopardy. Even if they go, they'll undoubtedly get a lower seed.

But on Thrsday, there was no talk of tournament hopes, nor was there any positive they could pull from this game.

"It's a loss," said Gig Harbor's Austin Seferian-Jenkins. "That's about it."
