Kids Take Over The Gallery At TCC

Artwork from Tacoma Community College's Early Learning Center enrollees will be on display next Tuesday.

Next Tuesday, The Gallery at TCC will be open for a special one-day show featuring work by children enrolled in Tacoma Community College's Early Learning Center summer program.

The gallery will be open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Artists will be in attendance from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for a reception and popcorn sale. Admission is free.

Building on last summer’s successful program, Gallery Coordinator Jennifer Olson-Rudenko has guided the kids through a series of art projects designed to impart a little art history – and a lot of fun.

Paintings, photography, pillows and sculpture displayed during the one-day show were created by younger elementary-school aged kids and inspired by artists including Matisse, Van Gogh, and Jackson Pollock.

“They like Jackson Pollock – they can get into it!” said Olson-Rudenko.

“Jennifer Olson-Rudenko has spent so much time with our class and has brought us such exciting projects,” said School-Age Summer Camp teacher Rose Baldwin. “Please show your support and be amazed by what a child can create!”
