Daughter of CHS Choir Teacher Succumbs to Brain Tumor

10-year-old Maari Dickerson passed away on August 31st after a valiant fight against an aggressive brain tumor. A memorial is scheduled for Sept. 14, 2013 in Gig Harbor.

Editor's Note: University Place Patch has learned that Maari Dickerson, the daughter of Curtis High School choral music teacher Dave Dickerson, has passed away.

Dear Families and Friends of UPSD,

On behalf of Curtis High School choral music teacher Dave Dickerson and his family, thank you so much for your generous donations and many expressions of support over the past several months.   As many of you know, Maari Dickerson, age 10, died on August 31, after a valiant 13-month battle with an aggressive brain tumor.   A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, September 14, at 1:00 p.m., at Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church, Gig Harbor, WA. 

In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, we will continue to accept donations to help the Dickerson family recover from staggering medical costs they have incurred.  Checks can be made out to David Dickerson, and mailed or dropped off at the district office.
