Curtis Product Max Hersey First To Embrace WSU's Winning Kicker In Apple Cup

Hersey was blocking on the left side of the line when Cougars kicker Andrew Furney kicked a 27-yard field goal to seal a 31-28 overtime victory over the Washington Huskies.

PULLMAN-The second Andrew Furney booted the ball into the cold Palouse air, he knew it was good.

Apparently, so did teammate and Curtis product Max Hersey.

Hersey, who was blocking on the left side, was the first to embrace Furney, whose 27-yard-field sealed Washington State University's 31-28 overtime victory over cross-state rival and 25th-ranked Washington Huskies in the Apple Cup on Friday.

A split second later, Furney was mobbed by his teammates, and later by a flood of WSU fans who rushed the field.

According to this video, it appears that Hersey freed himself from the mob and ran toward the Cougar sidelines.
