Curtis Girls Net First Lacrosse Win of the Season

The boys team, however, dropped its third straight game of the season Monday.

Emily Davis netted six goals to lead Curtis to an opening day 22 – 1 girls high school lacrosse win over Bethel, Monday at home.

The Lady Viks jumped out to a 13 – 1 first half lead before scoring nine unanswered goals in the second to close out the game. Sirrenahdi Battle had the lone goal for Bethel in the first.

Curtis (1-0-0) next faces Graham-Kapowsin (0 -2-0) Wednesday in a 6:30 p.m. start at Bethel High School.

Bernal helps Islanders deal Curtis an 0-3 start

Connor Bernal scored five goals to lead Mercer Island to its fourth win of the season with a 17 – 4 boys high school lacrosse defeat of Curtis in University Place.

The win elevated the defending state champion Islanders to sole possession of first place in the Southwest Conference.

The Islanders scored six first quarter goals and added seven more in the second to take a defining 13 – 3 lead at the half. MI added two more in the third and another two in the  fourth.

Brandon Dean had three goals and Jacob Budnick recorded 15 saves for Curtis.

Curtis (0-3-0) next faces Eastside Catholic (1-2-0) Thursday in an 8 p.m. start at home.
