Curtis Boys Fall Short in Lacrosse Action

The Vikings lost to Bainbidge in a tough opening game Wednesday. Ryder Choate had three goals and goaltender Jacob Budnick had 11 saves.

Jacob Knostman delivered a hat trick to lead Bainbridge to its first win of the 2012 boys high school lacrosse season with a 15 – 9 defeat of Curtis, Wednesday in University Place.

The win corrected the Spartans’ two-game season-opening slide resulting from losses to Lake Washington and Mercer Island.

Knostman, a junior attackman also added five assists in the win for a total of 13 on the season.  His hat trick was his second of the year.  Defensively for the Spartans, Adam Gargus grabbed eight ground balls and goaltender Reynolds Yarbrough stopped 10 Curtis shots on goal.

Curtis (0-1-0) next faces King’s Way (1-0-0) Saturday, March 17 in a 7 p.m. start at Columbia River High School.
