Curtis Answers Puyallup On The Road

The Vikings from University Place could have buckled twice in the fourth quarter of a statewide televised game Thursday night. Instead, they found an answer on the road and reeled off their second consecutive impressive wi.

Well, that not be totally accurate. The Curtis tailback could very well be the life of the party. But on Thursday night, in front of a he crushed the offsensive party of Puyallup in the local Vikings' 35-21 South Puget Sound League victory.

After Puyallup pulled within a touchdown, the 180-pound tailback picked up the ball and sprinted 95 yards to put CurtisΒ  (2-1 overall) up two scores with 8:46 remaining.

Puyallup answered with a drive capped by quarterback Brandon Illies finding a wide-open receiver for a score.

But this time, the Curtis offensive line put on their hardhats to help the local Vikings run four minutes off the clock, capped by an aggressive Mitchell Hersey touchdown run with 3:20 remaining.

Combined, Deveaux and Hersey racked up for more than 300 yards, and Curtis has reeled off two victories since losing to Graham-Kapowsin earlier this month.

Thursday's game was broadcast statewide on ROOT Sports, the lone appearance on the network for Curtis this season.

The Vikings next host Todd Beamer, Sept. 28 at homecoming.
