Terrible service on Christmas Day. Seems some employes would rather see people start fights in order to get in before closing then let people in before closing at 5 pm. My husband and I were there with approximate 10 minutes to spare and were told rudely "the store is closed" repeatedly with no explanation. I will be calling the manager of the store tomorrow for the terrible service. I hope the male employee outside the store (who claimed he was the manager) had a merry Christmas ruining the plans of my family and other other people trying to get in the store for last minute items. One man was so desperate to get in he shoved this employee because he was irritated that instead of saying something intelligible about why he was unable to get INTO the store before closing, the employee just kept getting in his way repeating "the store is closed" in a monotone fashion. I think what made it better was that after turning people away, this same employee had the audacity to light up a cigarette and smoke right outside the front door. I wish I had took a picture of this man or got his name. Will be going there tomorrow to find out who was so rude to us. I hope it is not the manager because this terrible customer service. This was on 12/25/13 at approximately 4:55. My husband was standing outside the store, and I was sitting in the car when I heard over the loud speaker "the time is now 4:55 and the store will be closing in 5 minutes." Please tell me why people were unable to shop before the store actually closed. I think this is terrible service and have been a loyal Safeway customer for many years, CHOOSING to shop here instead of at Albertsons (right across the street). I think this is not they way to treat your customers and till this is settled, will be telling everyone I know how Safeway chooses to show their appreciation.
