DOUGH SAVER: Put A Cap On It And Save Money

In this entry, Patch's frugal blogger writes that you can save your floors and funiture with Soft Paws for cats and dogs.

Sometimes to save money you have to spend money.

A few weeks ago I spent money and can already tell I’m going to save thousands of dollars.

I have a 55-pound, Australian Cattle dog, and I have newly refinished hardwood floors. See the problem?

Scratches.

Our dog has nails that are fairly short due to normal "fetch the ball" activity, so grinding the nails down every few weeks isn’t necessarily in our future as the quick is too long and takes time to recede. Not to mention the $18 we’d be forking over to the groomers.

We discovered nail caps for dogs called Soft Paws.

Soft Paws are basically a vinyl cap that you glue onto the nails. They are safe for the nails, and if accidently digested, your dog will be fine.

I didn’t believe these nails caps would save my floors, but the alternative of having deep scratches in my new floors and then later having to pay over $1,000 to have them refinished did not greatly appeal to me.

I was wrong about these little caps.

Our floors are safe, our dog doesn’t even notice the caps, her feet are fine, and she hasn’t scratched the floors or anything else while wearing the Soft Paws.

Purchased for around $30, I received 40 caps, glue, and an application guide. They are simple to apply and easy to reapply should one fall off.

Not to mention you can order an array of colors if you’d like your pet to have that newly finished pawicure look, we opted for a bright blue.  They come in several sizes for dogs and cats.

Try them out if you are trying to save your floors or furniture.
