Do The Puyallup And Make Your Escape

UP resident and Patch Mom, Rachel Lauzon, offers her perspective and voice on everything University Place. Today, she talks about submitting your creations to the Puyallup Fair.

If you’ve read my old , you know we skip school to do the Puyallup.

What you may not realize is that my family is a huge fan of the Puyallup Fair, not only for the rides, but for the chance to show off our creativity with the numerous things we display at the fair.

There’s still time, University Place, to get into the action and show us, and the State, your stuff.

Wreaths, Lego creations, vegetables, flowers, scrapbooking, jewelry making, egg decoration, photography, fine arts, animals, collections and more will be on the walls and shelves at the Puyallup Fair.

Do you have a secret talent that would amaze not only your family but onlookers? Maybe you should enter your creation.

The process is updated this year with online registration, which makes entering a little bit easier and faster. You’ll still need to drive your work down to the fair, or have a friend drop it off, but other than the time it takes to create your piece, everything else is a breeze.

My family has won grand champion in the adult and children’s division in Lego, and I’ve won 1st place in scarecrow building a few years back with my SpongeBob SquarePants impersonation.

You never know what the judges may like this year, so it’s anybody’s game. Not to mention most categories come with a cash prize for winners or even free fair admission tickets.

What have you got to lose?
