Worthington Announces Launch of Campaign Website

From University Place City Council candidate Steve Worthington:

Steve Worthington, candidate for University Place City Council Position 3, announced today that he has launched his campaign website. Visitors will be able to read more information about why Steve is the most qualified for the job.

“I am in a position to understand the needs of both the residents and business owners in University Place. As a resident for over 12 years, former small business owner and public servant, I have a unique understanding of all sides of local government,” said Worthington.

Steve was in the restaurant industry for a number of years, both in management and as the owner of two restaurants, before moving into public service. He served as the Community Development director for the City of Fife for 6 years before the City Council chose him to be the City Manager, a capacity he served in from 2005 – 2011. He also served as Economic Development Director for Ritzville, Deer Park and Cheney.

“After retiring, I still felt the desire to serve and wanted to make a difference for the city I call home,” said Worthington. “As I have been talking to folks at their doors and at community events the last few months, my belief that people want fresh leadership with experience outside of UP is confirmed. A new, knowledgeable perspective to deal with the city’s growth and budgetary constraints will make a difference.”

“I know that we can provide a better experience for residents and business owners when working with local government. There are great opportunities for University Place and I will make sure we’re making the smart decisions to take advantage of them,” concluded Worthington.

Residents are encouraged to visit www.Worthington4UP.com to read why Steve is the most qualified candidate for City Council and also visit the Contact page to ask any questions they might have.
