Small Community Of Rainier Shocked, Saddened By JBLM Helicopter Crash

The Thurston County community of about 1,800 residents considers the military good neighbors.

The small community of Rainier is as shocked and saddened as anyone today after a couple miles outside of town, killing four soldiers.

The News Tribune's Christian Hill, who used to cover the military for The Olympian and is familiar with the area, spoke with residents of Rainier today, who considered the military their good neighbor.

As you can imagine, the crashes hit especially hard for a neighboring community of about 1,800 people.
