THIS CAMPAIGN:

What is the primary reason you are running for this office?

I am passionate about public education, which more than any other institution in our democracy has the power to transform lives and provide our youth tremendous opportunity.

What will be your top three priorities if you get elected and why?

I will work to build upon the high quality of education in University Place by making policy-based decisions that: (1) put kids and the classroom first; (2) promote high academic standards, the professional development of our dedicated educators and staff, and the district’s accountability to the public; and (3) wisely manage our district’s resources.

What sets you apart from the other candidates and/or previous office holders?

I am the granddaughter of four immigrants who quickly realized the value of education in this country.  I am also a public school graduate who, as early as second grade, had the chance to begin a lifelong study of languages and other cultures in an excellent public school system.  Like members of the University Place community, I expect excellence in our schools.  I will work hard to meet the challenge of providing our student citizens an outstanding public education.

How much money do you expect your campaign to spend on this election?

I anticipate no campaign expenses.
