Madigan Commander Extended Through Early August

Col. (Dr.) Dallas Homas was originally slated to leave the military treatment facility March 10.

Army officials recently approved an assignment extension for Madigan Army Medical Center’s commander, ensuring he will remain in place through the summer.

Col. (Dr.) Dallas Homas was originally slated to leave the military treatment facility March 10, but will now remain as commander of the organization through early August.

“This is wonderful news for Madigan Army Medical Center and all its beneficiaries,” said Maj. Gen. Richard Thomas, commanding general of Western Regional Medical Command. “Colonel Homas is a fine commander.  He represents superbly the Army, the Army Medical Department and our Region.”

Homas, a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, earned his M.D. after graduating from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md.  As a combat veteran with tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, he has a personal connection with warrior care and has made the health care of those who serve our nation a priority during his Madigan tenure.  Since taking command in March of 2011, Homas has championed such initiatives as Soldier Centered Medical Home, Soldier Sports Medicine Center and those focusing on behavioral health.

“It is such an honor to be entrusted with the health of our service members, their families and our retiree population,” said Homas.  “From our new embedded behavioral health clinics to the expanded Child and Family Assistance Center, Madigan continues to adjust to fit the unique medical needs of its beneficiary population.  It’s definitely a privilege to continue to command
here … I am excited by what the future holds for Madigan and couldn’t be happier to remain a part of it.”
