Library Board To Discuss Closing Papers For Its University Place Branch

At the end of the closing process, the library system will own the UP branch property in the Civic Building at Town Center.

Pierce County Library System leaders are scheduled to discuss the closing papers of its , which will finally transfer ownership of the condominium space inside the Civic Building.

The library's Board of Trustees will review the closing documents at its May meeting. At the end of the closing process, the library system will own the UP library property, and the condominium will begin operating per the final condominium declaration and operating agreement.

Opened in 2011, the library was the first official tenant in the University Place Civic Building at Town Center. The branch's original location east of Bridgeport Way West, but the library agreed to allow the city to demolish the building to make way for Town Center.

It was housed temporaily at a former auto parts store off 27th Street West before opening in February 2011.

The Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., next Wednesday, May 9,at the Library’s Processing and Administrative Center, 3005 112th St. E., in Tacoma.
