Keel To Run For University Place City Council

The longtime University Place School Board member says he wants to bring the district's same success and high standards to the city.

member Kent Keel said today that he will run for a seat on the in November.

Keel, who's been elected to the school board three times, is running for the position held by Mayor Debbie Klosowski, who announced Friday .

The soon-to-be-vacant position now has two challengers, as Howard Lee a day before Klosowski made hers.

Keel says he wants to bring the leadership he exhibited UP Schools to the city. The school district has some of the best test scores in the state, as well as facilities, and has maintained a strong financial position, he said.

"I want to help sharpen city government's focus on our unique community values," he said.

Kent and wife Renee own a home in Beckonridge, where they raised three children and now entertain their grandchildren.
