Joint Base Lewis-McChord Welcomes Home 170 Soldiers From Iraq

They represent the last charter aircraft returning active duty JBLM soldiers from Iraq. After this, only 100 soldiers from the local installation will remain in that country.

The final large group of JBLM Soldiers returning from Iraq will touch down at McChord Field today.

About 170 Soldiers from the17th Fires Brigade and 62nd Medical Brigade will be on the flight, which is expected to be the last charter aircraft returning active duty JBLM Soldiers from Iraq. The aircraft is scheduled to land this afternoon.

After this event, only about 100 JBLM Soldiers will remain in Iraq, and they’ll be returning in individually and in small groups via commercial air.

After landing at McChord Field, the 17th Fires Brigade and 62nd Medical Brigade Soldiers will be reunited with friends and family at welcome home ceremonies elsewhere on JBLM.



JBLM Soldiers returning from Iraq on Dec. 6:

-40 Soldiers from the 520th Medical Company, 62nd Medical Brigade. The unit deployed in mid-June.

-55 Soldiers from the 47th Combat Support Hospital, 62nd Medical Brigade. The unit deployed in July and August.
