Jean Brooks' Son Gives City $1,000 Scholarship In Her Honor

Brooks son, Clifford, gave the city a check tonight for the UP parks and recreation department. It was one of his mother's passions.

The son of the longtime gave the city another lasting legacy of his mother.

Brooks' son, Clifford, presented the city's parks and recreation department with a $1,000 scholarship check tonight.

"I can't think of a more fitting way to remember you mom," said Debbie Klosowski to Brooks' son, who had to fight back tears as he addressed the City Council.

Brooks, a member of University Place's first City Council who dedicated her life to public service, died in December 2009 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
